Aria Golestani

SSRC Criminal Justice Innovation Postdoctoral Fellow, Department of Economics, University of Toronto

Aria Golestani is an SSRC Criminal Justice Innovation Postdoctoral Fellow in the Department of Economics at the University of Toronto. Before joining FOS, he held postdoctoral research positions at Northeastern University and Cornell University.

His research examines the impact of public policy on low-income and disadvantaged populations, with a particular focus on crime and intimate partner violence. He is engaged in ongoing research projects on local economic development programs, the impact of youth employment on criminal behavior, and prosecutorial practices.

Aria holds a B.A. in Economics from the University of Tehran, an M.A. in Economics from California State University–Los Angeles, and a Ph.D. in Economics from the University of California, Irvine.
