Second International Symposium on Research and Impact in Education
On Friday, March 15, 2024, education experts from Puerto Rico and around the world convened at the Anfiteatro Dr. Jaime Cucurella, Caribbean University – Bayamón in Puerto Rico, for the Second International Symposium on Research and Impact in Education, jointly organized by the Puerto Rico Department of Education (PRDE) and the Forward Society (FOS) Lab.
This in-person event shared innovative programs, local learnings, and promoted educational research, offering a unique opportunity to understand the educational evidence from Puerto Rico firsthand. The event’s program showcased findings from several ongoing projects that are part of the research-practice partnership between FOS and the PRDE. The symposium featured presentations from the Institute for Professional Development of the PRDE, from FOS, J-PAL North America, and Khan Academy, as well as researchers from the University of Toronto, the University of Puerto Rico – Mayagüez, and the University of Texas at Austin, who have jointly achieved evidence-based educational transformations.

Featured Research
FOS and PRDE researchers presented findings from several ongoing projects that are part of the Puerto Rico Department of Education Research Partnership between FOS and the PRDE.
This research included:
- ATEMA, which uses Khan Academy’s technology to support students learning math.
- EDUGESPRO, which provides management and leadership training to principals.
- ACEmoción, which offers social and emotional training to teachers.
